Liliana Corobca, born on October 10, 1975, in the village of Săseni, Călărași district, Republic of Moldova, is a renowned writer and researcher in the field of studies on communist censorship in Romania. A graduate of the Faculty of Letters at the Moldova State University (1997), she completed her education with a doctorate in philology from the University of Bucharest (2001), with a thesis dedicated to the character in the interwar Romanian novel. Throughout her career, Corobca has held important positions in the academic and research environment in Romania, including a research scientist position at the "G. Călinescu" Institute of Literary History and Theory in Bucharest and, since 2014, an expert position in the field of Romanian exile at IICCMER. As a writer, Liliana Corobca debuted with the novel "Negrissimo" (2003), which earned her the "Prometheus" award for debut from România literară magazine and the award for debut in prose from the Writers' Union of the Republic of Moldova. Among her works, the novel "Kinderland" (2013) was distinguished by the Radio România Cultural Award and the Crystal Award at the Vilenica International Festival in Slovenia, and has been translated into over six languages. Alongside numerous other novels and monographs, she published the seminal volume "Controlul cărții. Cenzura literaturii în regimul comunist din România" (2014), a fundamental work that explores the mechanisms by which the totalitarian regime controlled cultural life. A prolific author, Corobca has edited and coordinated several volumes dedicated to Romanian exile, deportations, and the panorama of communism and post-communism in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
