About
Ludmila Urecheanu was the head of a team (zvenie) in the "Michurin" collective farm in Lazo district (currently Sîngerei). She was born on October 1, 1936, in the village of Sîngerei Vechi, now the city of Sîngerei. From 1952, she began working in the "Michurin" collective farm in her hometown. She worked honestly and conscientiously, helping her colleagues and mastering the agricultural techniques for grapevine care. From 1956, she became a team leader in the viticulture brigade of the "Michurin" collective farm in Sîngerei (during the period 1965–1991, the locality was named Lazovsk). By organizing her work efficiently and constantly implementing new and advanced methods in production, the team led by her began to achieve rich harvests year after year. Particularly high performance was achieved during the "seven-year plan" years (1959–1965). In the period 1962–1965, from each of the 20.6 hectares of productive vineyards, an average of 117.8 quintals of grapes were harvested annually, while the average for the entire brigade was 106.7 quintals, and for the collective farm – 94.8 quintals. In 1965, her team's harvest reached 138.8 quintals per hectare, and on an area of 5 hectares of Aligote and Fetească varieties, she obtained 180 quintals. By Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 30, 1966, for achievements in increasing the production and harvesting of grapes, fruits, and vegetables, Lyudmila Georgievna Urecheanu was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor, with the presentation of the Order of Lenin and the gold medal "Hammer and Sickle". Accumulating rich practical experience, Lyudmila Urecheanu continued to improve her knowledge, gladly helping others. The vineyards under the care of her team were maintained exemplarily, which allowed for consistent harvests. In the years of the Eighth Five-Year Plan (1966–1970), an average of 100.7 centners of grapes per hectare were harvested, and in 1974 – 140 centners. She was elected deputy to the local Soviet of People's Deputies of Lazovsk and a member of the Lazo District Committee of the Communist Party of Moldova. She lived in the city of Sîngerei.
