About
Marina Sheversky, originally from Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, discovered her passion for the piano at a young age, quickly integrating into an intensive music program in the former USSR. She graduated from the Niaga State College of Music in Chisinau with honors in 1982, earning a Bachelor of Music, followed by a Master of Music from the prestigious Nezhdanova State Conservatory in Odesa, Ukraine, in 1990, specializing in solo piano performance, accompaniment, collaborative performance, and piano pedagogy. Trained by renowned masters such as Alexey Botvinov and Alexander Kardaschew, she began her teaching career immediately after graduation, teaching at the State Music School and the State Music College in Chisinau. After emigrating to Canada in 1997, Marina initially settled in Toronto, then in Vancouver and Kelowna, British Columbia, where she founded private piano studios such as Sheversky Music Studio and Piano Lessons Kelowna. With over 35 years of experience teaching piano, music theory, and fundamentals, she is certified by the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM), a member of the British Columbia Registered Music Teachers' Association (BCRMTA), and has participated in the RCM Examiner Mentorship Program. Her students achieve exceptional results, with a 100% pass rate in RCM exams, awards at festivals such as Kiwanis and Davenport, and some have pursued musical careers, performing and teaching in Canada. Her individualized pedagogical method tailors lessons to all levels – from young children and beginners to advanced students and adults – fostering not only technique but also a love for music through improvisation, ear training, and music history. Marina teaches in private studios, preparing students for RCM and ABRSM exams, festivals, and national, provincial, and local competitions. Passionate about music education, she inspires generations with her holistic approach, offering personalized lessons in English and Russian, and continues to contribute to the Canadian music scene from Kelowna and Vancouver.
