About
Katerina Kramarchuk, born in 1988 in Chisinau, Moldova, is an internationally acclaimed composer and pianist who has established her career in the United States of America. Her family moved to America in 2002, and she pursued a high-level musical education, earning a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the Manhattan School of Music, an Artist Diploma in Composition from the Curtis Institute of Music (where she studied with Richard Danielpour and David Ludwig), and a Master of Music in Composition from the Juilliard School (under the guidance of Christopher Rouse), where she was a recipient of the Gitta Steiner Cartwright Scholarships. Her music has been described as "sharp, tightly constructed, and quietly introspective, with propulsive rhythms and sophisticated textures." The composer's career is marked by prestigious commissions and distinguished premieres, including a first commission from The Philadelphia Inquirer for their new arts and media initiative. Her works have been performed in respected venues worldwide, such as the Luvru Gallery in Paris, Bargemusic, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Dresden Music Festival, and other renowned concert halls. Among her notable works are "The Dniester Flow" (2012), a saxophone quintet inspired by the Dniester River in Moldova and Ukraine, and "Winter Winds" for wind quintet, which showcases a contemporary and captivating neo-Romantic language. Active in education, Katerina Kramarchuk teaches piano, composition, and music theory, currently serving as a faculty member at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. In 2013, she was a teaching assistant at Curtis Summerfest's Young Artist Summer Program, where she taught composition classes and coached chamber music ensembles. She has also self-published collections of "Original Piano Solos" in three volumes and "Original Jazz Piano Solos" through her company, Kat Sounds Music. She currently resides in the Philadelphia area and continues to inspire students to love music and develop their piano skills.
