Anna Sergunina, born in Chisinau, Moldova, in the former Soviet Union, moved to the United States in the 1990s with her family, settling in the Maryland/DC area. A graduate of Towson University with a degree in Business Administration and a specialization in Finance, she began her career in the financial services industry in 2003, initially working as an intern at Salomon Smith Barney and a sales representative for retirement savings plans. Since 2006, she joined MainStreet Financial Planning as an administrative assistant, later becoming a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) in 2009 and acquiring the company in 2014, transforming it into the largest fee-only, commission-free hourly financial planning firm exclusively led by women. As President and CEO of MainStreet Financial Planning, based in Burlingame, California, Anna Sergunina focuses on helping busy families, especially those with young children, make smart financial decisions through programs like the Money Flow System, Money Boss Summit, and personalized consulting. She is an active member of the Garrett Planning Network (GPN), the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), and has served on the boards of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) for both the Silicon Valley and San Francisco chapters. She was recognized as "A Virtual Force" by Morningstar and named to the Top 10 Young Advisors To Watch by Financial Advisor Magazine in 2017, contributing articles to publications such as Business Insider, Forbes, and the Wall Street Journal. In her personal life, Anna has been married for over 15 years to Yuri, a music enthusiast who inspires her with playlists, and she is the mother of Liam, born in 2019, for whom she launched the Money Boss podcast dedicated to parents. Her family maintains close ties with relatives in Moldova, planning regular visits, and she dedicates her free time to cooking, wine tasting in Napa and Sonoma, nail care, and walks with her son. She speaks fluent Russian and English, teaching Liam his mother tongue, and promotes financial education accessible to everyone, believing that financial freedom is a universal right.
