Ecaterina Locoman is a Senior Lecturer in Political Science and International Studies at the Lauder Institute and the Department of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. She teaches in the Global Program, focusing on international relations and comparative politics, and is responsible for curriculum development and academic oversight of the Global Knowledge Lab, the vehicle through which dual-degree program students conduct original independent research and complete their master's theses. Prior to her position at Lauder, Ecaterina was a lecturer in the Master's Program in UN Studies and Global Politics at Rutgers University. Ecaterina Locoman's academic career is built on a solid interdisciplinary foundation, with significant contributions in areas such as comparative foreign policy analysis, military alliances, the role of mass media in influencing public opinion, and the promotion of democracy. She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from Rutgers University and conducted extensive research with fieldwork in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, including interviews with high-level political figures. Before her academic career, Ecaterina worked as a journalist for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, covering a wide range of issues such as migration, human trafficking, taxation, and foreign policy. In her personal life, Ecaterina comes from Pepeni, a picturesque commune in northern Moldova, from which she graduated from Chișinău State University with a specialization in Journalism and Communication Studies, before continuing her education abroad. She is passionate about reading non-fiction books, exploring through travel, and spending time in nature. Ecaterina is the mother of two energetic children and, as of January 2025, hosts an interview column at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Moldova, thus continuing her active involvement in the public and journalistic sphere.
