Ana-Felicia Scutelnicu was born in 1978 in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova. After four years dedicated to theater in Benin, West Africa, she moved to Berlin and enrolled at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB). Here, she developed a career as a director, screenwriter, and editor, working on projects that explore social and cultural themes with sensitivity and cinematic depth. Her academic training in Germany laid the foundation for a distinct artistic approach, combining a Moldovan perspective with contemporary filmmaking techniques. Her short films "Între Ziduri" (Between Walls) (2007) and "Hinterhof" (Backyard) (2010) were screened at international festivals and won numerous awards. Her major achievements include "Panihida - Himmelreich" (2012), a study of tradition and death in a Moldovan village, and "Anishoara" (2016), a poetic portrait of a Moldovan teenager. The film "Panihida" was awarded the Robert Bosch Co-production Prize for German-East European co-productions and the CinemaXXI Award, consolidating her reputation in auteur film circuits. Her works are notable for their contemplative cinematography and narratives that maintain a connection to her Moldovan roots. Throughout her career, Ana-Felicia Scutelnicu has collaborated with prestigious institutions and festivals in Germany and Europe, participating in documentary and fiction projects that have expanded the boundaries of artistic expression. Starting from her African theatrical experience and continuing through her German academic training, the director has built a unique cinematic identity that reflects the dialogue between Moldovan culture and contemporary European cinematography, remaining an important voice in auteur cinema on the European continent.
