About
Parascovia Muntean was a tobacco sorter at the Florești Tobacco Fermentation Factory, subordinate to the Ministry of Food Industry of the Moldavian SSR. She was born on March 15, 1929, in the village of Mărculești, Soroca district, Bessarabia, currently in Florești district. She began her professional career in 1946 at the Florești Tobacco Fermentation Factory, the administrative center of Florești district. Initially, she worked as a packer, later becoming a sorter. Being a highly skilled and diligent worker, in 1951 she was entrusted with the leadership of a tobacco sorting brigade. Thanks to her organizational and educational qualities, she managed to motivate people towards dedicated work, setting an example herself for the conscientious fulfillment of tasks. The brigade annually exceeded the established plans: by 17% in 1963, and by 20% in 1964-1965. The higher quality production was consistently 6-7% higher than the factory average. As a mentor to young people, she gladly shared her rich knowledge and experience with new workers. Throughout her career, she trained dozens of high-class instructor-sorters for collective farms, which allowed the farms to improve tobacco quality and brought them hundreds of thousands of rubles in additional net income. In 1963, she was awarded the honorary title of "Stakhanovite of Communist Labor." By Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of July 21, 1966, for outstanding merits in fulfilling the tasks of the five-year plan and achieving high technical and economic indicators in food production, Parascovia Sergheevna Muntean was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor, with the presentation of the Order of Lenin and the gold medal "Hammer and Sickle". She was elected deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the VII convocation (1966-1970) and to local Soviets of People's Deputies. She was a delegate to the III Congress of Women of Moldova. From 1969 she retired, and from 1970 she was a pensioner of union importance. She lived in the city of Florești. She was awarded the Order of Lenin (21.07.1966) and several medals.
