About

Marina Gutman is a singer, songwriter, and writer originally from the Republic of Moldova, who developed her passion for music from childhood, under the guidance of her grandmother. After emigrating to the United States, she settled in the Los Angeles area, where she built a career in the independent music industry. Marina's musical education and artistic aspirations are deeply rooted in family influence and the musical tradition she inherited from Moldova. Together with her husband Paul McCarty, a musician from New Orleans, Marina forms the musical duo Non Duo, known for the harmonious blending of perspectives and life experiences from two different cultures. The pair has gained international recognition for their creative covers of songs, including an English-language rendition of Yuri Loza's Russian song "The Raft," which went viral on YouTube and attracted the attention of the Russian media. Non Duo is active in the Los Angeles independent music scene, participating in various concert series and local music events. As a writer and composer, Marina creates both original music and prose and non-fiction, expressing her unique perspectives gained from the experience of living in two different worlds through art. Her artistic work reflects notable sincerity and creative drive, demonstrating how cultural and personal differences can be transformed into a source of authentic musical inspiration and self-sufficient expression in the contemporary American musical landscape.
