About

Mariana Izman, a renowned pianist from the Republic of Moldova, was born in 1979 in Chișinău and began her musical studies at the age of six, showing exceptional talent early on. She graduated with honors from the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2002, after studying with Professor Marcel Baudet, and also benefiting from masterclasses with great masters such as Murray Perahia, Emanuel Ax, Mitsuko Uchida, and Richard Goode. A laureate at international competitions such as the Grand Prix Vlado Perlemuter in France and the Dinu Lipatti Competition in Bucharest, she has conquered the stages of Europe with profound interpretations of Schumann, Rachmaninoff, Debussy, and Ravel, releasing critically acclaimed albums, including the complete solo works of Schumann and the sonatas of Rachmaninoff. Based in the Netherlands, where she performs in prestigious venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam or De Doelen in Rotterdam, Mariana Izman collaborates with elite orchestras like the Residentie Orkest, Netherlands Philharmonic, and Royal Flanders Philharmonic. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has worked with violinists such as Vesko Eschkenazy and Tjeerd Top, string ensembles like the Lendvai String Trio, and actors like Ion Caramitru, performing at Lincoln Center in New York or the Ravel Festival in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Since 2010, she has been living and teaching at the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School in the United Kingdom, where she shares her passion for classical music with talented young people from all over the world, thus complementing her concert career with an exceptional pedagogical mission. Recognized for the delicacy of her touch and emotional intensity, Mariana Izman received the title of "Master of Arts" in September 2023 from the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, during an official visit to the Netherlands. With refined polyglotism, she integrates poetry and theater into her lied programs, exploring universal literature alongside partners such as baritone André Morsch. Deeply connected to her Moldovan roots, where she initially studied at the "Ciprian Porumbescu" High School and the "Gavriil Musicescu" Music Academy, the artist periodically returns home, celebrating Christmas with her family and drawing inspiration from role models like Dinu Lipatti and Clara Haskil.
