Mila Furman, born in the Republic of Moldova, a former republic of the USSR, moved to the United States at the age of 7 with her family, who brought their entire life in six suitcases and a large trunk. Upon arriving in Chicago, in the suburb of Skokie, she discovered her passion for cooking, inspired by childhood memories of food and family. The loss of her mother at 20 was a turning point, prompting her to attend culinary school and establish Girl and the Kitchen in 2017, a private chef, boutique catering, and content creation company specializing in personalized meals for families in North Shore, Chicago, and suburbs like Naperville. As the founder, CEO, and head chef of Girl and the Kitchen, Mila Furman develops recipes, writes articles, photographs, and cooks, promoting the brand "Good Food. Done Right!". She has exclusively hired women for her team of eight chefs, offering them opportunities in the hospitality industry, and serves clients from Chicago to lower Wisconsin, adapting menus to allergies and diets. Her media appearances include Food Network, FOX, WGN, CBS, Windy City Live, and radio shows like WBBM Newsradio, solidifying her status as a national culinary influencer with tens of thousands of followers. Mila is a mother of two children – a daughter named Charlie and a younger son, Marcel – and a devoted wife to Mark, with whom she lives in Lake Zurich. Her family frequently appears in her content, where she promotes the idea that "to love is to cook, and to cook is to love," emphasizing healthy and educational eating. Despite her busy schedule, she allows herself a confessed vice: an obsession with reality TV from Bravo and TLC, which she watches even while cooking. She also offers an online course for parents, teaching them her four-step method for delicious and quick meals.
