Mariana Bahnaru was born on January 28, 1946, in Vînători commune, Nisporeni district, Republic of Moldova. In 1971, she graduated from the "B. Shchukin" Theatre School in Moscow, where she acquired solid training in acting and vocal arts. Her career began on the stage of the "Luceafărul" Theatre in Chișinău, where she debuted as an actress, but she soon pivoted to radio and television, becoming one of the most recognizable voices of Moldovan radio. Over more than four decades, Mariana Bahnaru worked as an announcer at Radio Moldova and the National Television "Moldova 1", hosting programs such as "Clubul radiofonic al femeilor" (Women's Radio Club), "Dialog cu arta" (Dialogue with Art), "Do-re-mi", and radio plays like "Alo, ați greşit numărul" (Sorry, Wrong Number) by J. Fletcher. She participated in television productions, including "Tanya" by A. Arbuzov and "Late Love" by A. Ostrovsky, collaborating with the "Folclor" Folk Music Orchestra and the Moldova-Film and Telefilm-Chișinău studios. Her distinctions include the title of Meritorious Artist of the MSSR (1980) and People's Artist (2010), recognizing her contribution to the promotion of cultural values and the Romanian language. Following her retirement from radio a few years ago, Mariana Bahnaru dedicated herself to teaching at the "ABZ" School of Good Manners in Chișinău, founded by Dorina Arsenie, where she teaches the art of correct and elegant speech to students aged 3 to 50. Here, she helps students from all over the country overcome pronunciation defects, conquer anxiety, and speak Romanian beautifully, transforming her vast experience into practical lessons on manners and communication. Passionate about roles performed with authentic emotion, she remains an iconic personality of Moldovan culture.
