About

Olga Busuioc, a renowned soprano from the Republic of Moldova, was born in 1986 into a family of musicians. Her mother, Tatiana Busuioc, is a mezzo-soprano and was her first singing teacher, while her father, Nicolae Busuioc, a tenor with an international career alongside the legendary Maria Bieșu, passed on to her the secrets of stagecraft. She graduated from the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chișinău, as well as the 'Ștefan Neaga' College of Music, later perfecting her art in Italy under the guidance of the celebrated Mirella Freni. A laureate of international competitions such as Operalia (second place in 2011, organized by Plácido Domingo), Francisco Viñas in Barcelona, Stanisław Moniuszko in Poland, and Belvedere in Vienna, Olga quickly conquered the world stages with her lirico-spinto voice, described as bright, expressive, and with a golden timbre. Her international career includes performances on the most prestigious stages, such as the Philharmonie de Paris, Teatro Real Madrid, Dutch National Opera, Teatro di San Carlo, Glyndebourne Festival, Polish National Opera, Hungarian State Opera, Staatsoper Stuttgart, and many others. Her Repertoire includes iconic soprano roles such as Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Rusalka, Elisabeta in Don Carlos, Tatyana in Eugene Onegin, Mimì in La Bohème, Liù in Turandot, Desdemona in Otello, and Micaëla in Carmen. Although active globally, she frequently collaborates with Moldovan professionals, bringing the fame of opera from the Republic of Moldova to the international stage, and in the 2025 season, she is scheduled to perform Tosca at Staatsoper Stuttgart and Hannover, Desdemona in Prague, and Rusalka. Olga Busuioc harbors a deep love for her home country, which she calls 'the parental home', having been taught by her parents to speak proudly of her roots anywhere in the world. She regrets that the audience in Moldova does not always have access to her major projects presented abroad and advocates for change through art, highlighting the potential of local talent. Recently, the soprano shared emotional moments from her personal life publicly, announcing a new love, which reflects the balance between her brilliant career and deep emotional connections.
