Tatiana Vîntu is a remarkable set designer of Moldovan origin, a graduate of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Visual Arts in Chișinău, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in scenography, followed by advanced studies at the National University of Theatre and Film Arts in Bucharest and an MFA in Set Design at Tulane University in New Orleans. Her international career in stage design and artistic performance culminated in the position of Associate Professor at the University of Houston, within the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts, where she heads the MFA program in Scenic Design and Technology at the School of Theatre & Dance. Among her notable achievements are the set designs for the production "Narnia The Musical" at A.D. Players (2025), with the innovative concept "From Wardrobe to Wonderland," as well as selected exhibitions at USITT conferences. As Head Curator for the United States exhibition at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space (PQ23 and PQ19), Tatiana Vîntu, alongside experts such as Kevin Rigdon and Patrick Rizzotti, coordinated presentations celebrating the diversity of performance design, integrating innovative trends like immersive digital media and sustainable practices. She has collaborated with prestigious institutions in the USA, Europe, and Asia, including Virginia Tech's School of Performing Arts, where she taught scenography, and national theaters in Romania and the United States. Her works, such as the designs for "Pippin," "Spring Awakening," and "Medea Redux," have been exhibited at major international events, highlighting her expertise in visual and emotional transformations through detailed textures, dramatic silhouettes, and light-reactive materials.
