Sanda Caracențev is a researcher and socio-cultural anthropologist with a career dedicated to the study of migration, transnational practices, and migrant infrastructure. With a solid background in anthropology, she obtained her PhD from University College London, where her thesis examined the practice of sending parcels in transnational Moldovan families as a way of staying connected across borders. Her research focuses on the complex dynamics of family relations in the context of migration, material culture, and solidarity networks, with primary research focuses in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Moldova. Her professional activity has developed through collaborations with prestigious institutions in London, including University College London and the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she held positions as a Teaching Assistant and Visiting Fellow. Currently, she works as a researcher within a project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) as an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow. Her academic expertise covers fundamental aspects of migration studies, from ethnographic analysis and qualitative research to multi-site studies exploring the socio-economic and cultural consequences of transnational migration. Caracențev's passion for understanding migration-related issues has deepened through her involvement in contemporary research, including the study of parcel-sending practices as a form of solidarity with Ukrainian refugees in Moldova.
