About
Carolina Korsakova was born and raised in the city of Bălți, Republic of Moldova, where she began her musical studies at a young age. At the age of eight, she entered the Eminescu Music High School, where she took piano lessons. At eighteen, she moved to Russia to continue her higher education, initially enrolling at the Moscow Institute of Foreign Languages. She graduated with honors from the Moscow Institute of Modern Art, obtaining a bachelor's degree from the Department of Pop and Jazz Singing, and her academic merit earned her a scholarship from the rector to pursue a master's degree. A vocal artist specializing in the folk-rock and ethno-rock genres, Carolina Korsakova actively promotes Romanian and Moldovan folklore on the international stage, although she lives in Moscow where she leads her own band and works as a singing teacher. She studied musical folklore and defended her thesis on "Musical Folklore in the Activity of Folk-Rock Bands," being deeply attracted to how traditional rock and folk genres can be combined. She also lived in India, where she experimented with ethno-electronic music and performed numerous concerts with local musicians. Carolina sings exclusively in Romanian, which she considers very melodic and sensual, having been inspired in her childhood by Moldovan folk music and the band Zdob și Zdub. She has participated in well-known television shows in Russia and has gained international recognition for her authentic interpretation of traditional Moldovan and Romanian songs. She has already composed a repertoire of 12 traditional songs and dreams of recording a vinyl album and collaborating with an authentic Moldovan folk music ensemble, thus promoting her native culture among the international public.
