About
She studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where she graduated with a Master's degree in 2019 and was awarded the Hugo Roelandt Prize 2019, the Mathilde Horlait-Dapsens Foundation Prize 2019, and the STRT Schot Prize 2019. She is an internationally renowned artist whose works have been exhibited at SMAK in Ghent (2017), Beursschouwburg in Brussels (2018), ERGO in Athens (2020), and M HKA in Antwerp (2021). Her works are represented in the collections of M HKA in Antwerp, the Flemish Community, and the Verbeke Foundation, as well as in numerous private collections. Godzina's existential and engaged work draws from autobiographical elements, as well as observations made during walks through urban situations or at the convergence of objects in time and space. Her work is animistic in nature, conceiving matter as an active substance. The vagabond, migratory objects she incorporates into her works carry discourses about value systems, cultural diversity, class hierarchies, and socio-political divisions. In the works she presents, the in situ qualities of the exhibition space play an important role, as does the fluidity between objects, time, space, sound, and movement.
