Carolina Dutca is a multidisciplinary artist from Transnistria, born in 1995, who works with photography, video, installation, and text. She honed her skills in artistic and documentary photography at the Fotografika Academy in Saint Petersburg, between 2017 and 2019, becoming the first student from Bessarabia admitted to this prestigious institution in the last twenty years. Her works explore themes such as interpersonal relationships, the concept of home, nature, and memory, and have been exhibited on international stages in countries such as the Czech Republic, Serbia, Germany, France, Romania, Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, and, of course, in the Republic of Moldova and Transnistria. Since 2019, Carolina has been consistently collaborating with Russian artist Valentin Sidorenko, with whom she lives and works in Bender, Moldova. This creative partnership has generated notable projects such as the photographic series "Water," which examines the Dniester River from a poetic and ecological perspective, and their documents that explore history and memory through archives and found objects. Their projects have been presented at the Sharjah Art Foundation (United Arab Emirates), the National Museum of Art of Moldova, and other internationally prestigious institutions, including renowned festivals in France. Carolina is also an active voice for human rights and freedom of expression, being involved in social projects that document the experiences of marginalized communities. Her works are represented by the contemporary photography agency Millenium Images in London, which reflects the international recognition of her artistic contribution. Her artistic practice is characterized by constant experimentation and an interdisciplinary approach that transcends the traditional boundaries of artistic genres.
