A prominent member of the "Iron Guard," a far-right party whose slogan was "Everything for the country," she was arrested and imprisoned by the Romanian authorities on several occasions. When the Soviets arrived, on July 12, 1940, she was arrested again. She did not go into exile because one of her daughters was in the hospital, having undergone surgery. But, I believe the real reason was different, she not wanting to leave the territory she considered sacred for her country, land that she had promised to defend and for which she had sacrificed herself. Her file from the Archives of the Ministry of National Security contains relevant details about the formation, development, and activity of the "Iron Guard" in Bessarabia. Alexandra Russo-Juriari, who had four children from her first marriage to the renowned professor Marin Chiriţescu-Arva, rector of the University-Academy of Agronomy in Bucharest, and a daughter from her marriage to reserve officer Eugen Juriari from Rezeni, was forced to remain in Chişinău to care for her elder daughter, who had undergone appendicitis surgery. On July 12, she was arrested by the NKVD for belonging to the Iron Guard (before this, she had been arrested several times under Carol II's regime), and was deported to Karaganda. At the insistence of her children to the International "Red Cross" to find out news about her, they were informed that she had died on May 11, 1943, in a prison in Turkistan. In June 1941, the evening before the Romanian troops entered Bessarabia, in Rezeni, Eugen Juriari and seven other prominent farmers from the village were summoned to the village soviet, from where they were taken in an unknown direction.
