About
Nina Crulicovschi, born on September 24, 1951, in the village of Shumiha, Kurgan region, Russia, into a family of parents deported to Siberia, represents one of the most remarkable voices of light music in the Republic of Moldova. At the age of seven, she returned with her father to Chisinau, where she gradually learned her mother tongue, studied at the Slobozia Music School, and then at the "Ștefan Neaga" Music School (1968-1972). Her career began in the "Mărțișor" Ensemble, and she later worked as a soloist in orchestras such as "Fluieraș" (1973-1975), "Lăutarii" (1975-1976), and ensembles of the National Philharmonic: "Orizont" (1977-1979), "Bucuria" (1979-1982), and "Contemporanul" ("Noroc", 1983-1989), with tours in countries such as Finland, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Tunisia, and the USA. Her artistic collaborations have been fruitful, working with eminent poets such as Grigore Vieru, Dumitru Matcovschi, and Anatol Ciocanu, as well as with composers like Petre and Ion Aldea-Teodorovici, Mihai Toderașcu, and Ion Enache. She recorded numerous songs at the National Radio Television, including hits like "Cu numele tău," "Steaua polară," "Steaua iubirii," and "Of, leliță Mărioară," which became classics of the Moldovan repertoire. She participated in international festivals, winning the III Prize at "Zorii Crimeii" (1981), and starred in the film "Chipul tău" (1984). Awarded the title of Master of Arts (1993) and People's Artist (2010), her career was marked by challenges, including a seven-year ban in the '80s for political reasons related to her father's arrest. For over 14 years, Nina Crulicovschi has been active as a soloist at the "Alexandru Davila" Revue Theater in Pitești, Romania, periodically returning to the Republic of Moldova for concerts and fan meetings. Married but without children, the artist continues to promote Moldovan light music, enjoying lasting popularity thanks to her warm voice and rich repertoire, which preserves the essence of local traditions adapted to modern stage music.
