Alla Chiricenco is one of the most influential personalities in Moldovan architecture, with a career spanning over six decades. Arriving in the Republic of Moldova through a professional assignment, the Russian architect decided to stay in the country, contributing decisively to the transformation of Chișinău's urban landscape. Among the numerous achievements bearing her mark are the Botanica district, the architectural complex of the Chișinău Circus, the "Gh. Asachi" high school building on Pușkin Street, and the modernization of the road to the Airport. For her dedication and talent demonstrated over the years, Chiricenco was awarded the State Prize of the Moldavian SSR in the field of literature, art, and architecture. Alla Chiricenco's professional activity focused on urban planning and development, participating in the elaboration of the General Plan of Chișinău, the first major project of her career, carried out in collaboration with architect Nina Mikhailovna Feldbryna. She was responsible for the design of several important city districts, demonstrating a deep understanding of the principles of architectural composition and urban ensemble. Her expertise in the field allowed for the realization of a body of work that proved fundamental to the development of the Moldovan capital during the Soviet period. In 2023, in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the cultural and urban development of Chisinau, Alla Chiricenco was designated an Honorary Citizen of Chisinau municipality. Nevertheless, the architect expresses justified dissatisfaction with contemporary urban development, considering that the unorganized and disordered development of the city has neglected the principles of architectural planning and urban harmony that characterized her past work. Her critical perspective on the current state of Chisinau reflects the responsibility of a professional who has dedicated her life to creating a capital with proportion and beauty.
