About

Hero of Socialist Labor, Decree Date: 15.02.1957 Medal No.: 6872, Order of Lenin No.: 314541 Iulia Cernea (later Boghiu) was a milkmaid at the "Kotovski" collective farm in the Brătușeni district, Moldavian SSR. She was born on July 7, 1933, in the village of Fântâna Albă, Edineț district. She began her professional career in July 1949, at the age of 16, at the "Serghei Lazo" collective farm in her native village. In January 1951, she joined the "Kotovski" collective farm (later the "Scânteia" collective farm) in the village of Parcova, Brătușeni district. In January 1953, she became a milkmaid at the collective farm's cattle farm, where she was assigned 11 cows. Initially, due to a lack of knowledge and experience, it was difficult for her. The farm's productivity was low, and she milked at most 50–60 kg of milk daily from the entire group of animals. However, with the help of experienced milkmaids, by studying advanced methods, and through diligent work, she managed to increase productivity year by year. The farm's Komsomol organization supported her, organizing socialist competitions in which Iulia Grigorievna actively participated. Inspired by the experiences of the participants at the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition, she set out to obtain 5,000 kg of milk from each cow. A period of dedicated work followed: careful animal care, strict adherence to the regimen, and rational feeding. Success came in 1956, when she obtained 5,085 kg of milk from each cow. This was the best result in the collective farm and one of the best in the district. By Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 15, 1957, for outstanding successes in the development of agriculture, the application of scientific achievements and advanced experience, Iulia Grigorievna Chernea was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor, along with the Order of Lenin and the gold medal "Hammer and Sickle". In April 1958, she stopped working on the farm, becoming an ordinary collective farmer. In May 1958, she became a member of the CPSU. In October 1960, she graduated from the one-year school in Țaul (Dondușeni district), specializing as an agronomist-viticulturist. From October 1960, I. G. Boghiu (married name) managed the kindergarten of the "Lenin" collective farm (Bocșa village, Fălești district). In May 1966, she returned to work as a milkmaid at the "Scânteia" collective farm in Edineț district, and from May 1969 she worked at the inter-farm enterprise "Colhozjivprom" (Călărași town, Edineț district). She retired in January 1987. She was elected deputy to the Brătușeni District Council (1957–1959) and to the Parcova Village Council (1967–1973). From 1988, she was a pensioner with personal status of all-Union importance. She lived in the Edineț district, Moldova. She was awarded the Order of Lenin (15.02.1957), medals, as well as the Diploma of Honor of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Moldavian SSR (1956).
