About
Maria Bucătari, born on May 5, 1987, in the Republic of Moldova, is a successful singer, model, and actress, active mainly on the music scene of the Russian Federation under the stage name Bukatara. Her talent was apparent since childhood when, from the age of three, she organized spontaneous performances with poems and songs, and later excelled in children's theater and the school choir, winning contests such as "The Golden Voice of Moldova" in 2000 and "The Crystal Drop" in 2004. At the age of 11, her family moved to Moscow, where she studied piano and flute at music schools, and at 18 she graduated with honors (red diploma) from the Moscow State Institute of Culture and Art, majoring in pop vocals, alongside economic studies at IGU MO. Her professional career began with her participation in the Russian group "Propaganda," where she successfully passed an audition during her student years, contributing to the band's success until 2015. In December 2015, Maria chose a solo path, releasing her own songs such as "I Am a River" (in collaboration with producer Sergei Ivanov), "Around," and "Entirely Yours," accompanied by music videos well-received by the public. She writes the music and lyrics for many of her creations, promoting them through official channels such as Instagram (@bukatara), VK, and YouTube, and she recently started a jewelry brand, "Bukatar," featuring natural stones, inspired by her travels to China. Her appearances at fashion events in Moscow, such as those by designers Victoria Certina and Denis Shevchenko, highlight her artistic versatility. Maria's personal life is characterized by stability and creative passions: in January 2015, after 10 years of knowing each other and 5 years of living together, she married Roman Borshev, with whom she shares a love for traveling in Europe, the USA, and Las Vegas—experiences that inspire her music. She is the middle of three sisters—the older sister, Olia, is a linguist, and the younger one, Natasha, is an administrator in a construction company, and the couple plans to start a family. Inspired by divas like Lara Fabian, Mariah Carey, or Adele, Maria continues to evolve, offering vocal lessons and maintaining a close connection to her Moldovan roots.
