Diana Baciu was born on March 26, 1994, in the Republic of Moldova and had a successful career in competitive chess. She achieved the title of Woman International Master (WIM) in 2013, and her highest Elo rating was 2298 in May 2017. Throughout her career, Baciu has won numerous international medals, including gold at the European Youth Chess Championship in the U18 category (2011) and two bronze medals at the World Youth Championships (2006 and 2008). At the national level, Baciu dominated Moldovan chess, becoming the champion of the Republic of Moldova in 2009 and repeatedly occupying top positions in the national rankings. She represented the Republic of Moldova at four editions of the Women's Chess Olympiad (2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016), with the last three editions as part of the main team. In 2016, in Baku, she was the leader of the national team and secured a good score on the top board, contributing to Moldova's overall performance. Diana Baciu's competitive career reflects her dedication to the development of chess in Moldova and her importance in promoting this sport internationally. With a career built on quality and perseverance, she became one of the most important figures in Moldovan chess of her time, and her contribution has been recognized both nationally and internationally.
