Hero of Socialist Labor, Decree Date: 22.03.1966 Medal No.: 11301 Order of Lenin No.: 354089 Valentina Russu was a milkmaid at the "Kirov" state farm in the Telman district, Karaganda region, Kazakh SSR. She was born on February 5, 1918, in the village of Agronomovca, Ungheni district. After finishing rural school, from 1940, when the Moldavian SSR became part of the USSR, she worked at the local collective farm "Târlița". During the occupation of the village and until the liberation of the Moldavian SSR from Romanian and German invaders, she remained in the occupied territory. After the end of the war, in 1946, Valentina Martynovna moved to the village of Rostovka in the Telman district, Karaganda region (Kazakh SSR), and started working as a milkmaid at the "Road to Communism" collective farm. After the reorganization of the collective farm, she continued to work as a milkmaid at the "Kirov" state farm, annually exceeding planned tasks and assumed socialist obligations. In 1963, she obtained 2,700 kilograms of milk from each of the 30 assigned cows (the plan being 1,600 kg), and in 1964 – 3,200 kilograms from 32 cows (the plan being 1,700 kg). In 1965, the production leader increased milk production to 3,300 kilograms per cow (the plan being 1,770 kg). By Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 22, 1966, for achievements in the development of animal husbandry, increasing the production and procurement of meat, milk, eggs, wool, and other products, Valentina Martynovna Russu was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor, with the presentation of the Order of Lenin and the gold medal "Hammer and Sickle". In the following years, she continued to demonstrate the best milk production indicators among livestock breeders in the Telman district (since 1997 – Buhar-Zhyrau district). Since 1978, she was a pensioner with personal all-Union significance status. She lived in the village of Rostovka, Buhar-Zhyrau district, Karaganda region. She passed away on February 1, 1982. She is buried in the cemetery of Rostovka village. She was awarded the Order of Lenin (03/22/1966) and medals.
