Cristina Viscu, originally from Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, is a versatile artist with an impressive career in the visual arts. At 15, she moved alone to the United States for an exchange student program, where she obtained a BFA in Fine Arts from Watkins College of Art and Design in Nashville, Tennessee. She later worked as a photographer, specializing in imaginative environmental portraits, collaborating with modeling agencies and make-up artists. Her experiences in New York, Moldova, and Auckland, New Zealand, inspired an eclectic artistic style, characterized by natural light and spontaneous locations. After moving to Auckland with her husband Eugen Figursky, whom she met in Moldova, Cristina founded Wild Wagon Co., initially a stationery design studio featuring hand-illustrated postcards, journals, and wrapping paper inspired by her travels and experiences. The business evolved rapidly in 2020, despite the pandemic, transitioning to fine jewelry with collections of silver plated with semi-precious stones sold online, and bespoke gold, diamond, and platinum pieces created in collaboration with local jewelry workshops. She manages creativity and design, while her husband contributes to the technical and e-commerce aspects, transforming a passion for miniature sculpture into a successful indie business. Cristina's personal life is marked by a balance between creation and family; after a trip to the USA and Europe, their son Leo was born, a moment that catalyzed her transition into jewelry making, starting with a personalized ring featuring a wedding diamond. The couple works from home, valuing spontaneity and mutual support, while Cristina dreams of expanding Wild Wagon through annual collections, artistic collaborations, and philanthropic initiatives, inspired by her Moldovan origins, to support children in orphanages and vulnerable communities in New Zealand and Moldova.
