Ecaterina Vîlcu is a young weightlifter from the Republic of Moldova who gained international recognition at a very young age. At just 15 years old, she became the European champion in the U15 category at the European Weightlifting Championships held in Madrid. At this prestigious competition, the Moldovan athlete achieved exceptional results, winning two gold medals and one silver medal. In the snatch event, in the 44-kilogram category, Vîlcu lifted 55 kilograms and placed first, while in the clean and jerk event, she won the silver medal with just one kilogram less than the champion.
