About
Mihaela Noroc is an internationally renowned Romanian photographer, who became famous for her ambitious artistic and sociological project titled "The Atlas of Beauty". Born in the Republic of Moldova, she managed to create one of the most popular photographic projects of the decade, offering a unique perspective on human diversity. The Essence of the Project In 2013, after working in advertising for several years, Mihaela Noroc decided to follow her passion for photography and travel. With limited resources, she embarked on a journey around the world, capturing portraits of women in their natural environment. Her goal was not only aesthetic but also deeply humanistic: to demonstrate that beauty has no borders, is not about wealth, fashion, or media-imposed standards, but is found in authenticity, dignity, and cultural diversity. Impact and Recognition The project quickly turned into a global phenomenon, being featured in prestigious publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, Forbes, and Time. Mihaela has traveled to over 50 countries, from the urban areas of Europe and the USA to isolated villages in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, or North Korea. In 2017, she released the album "The Atlas of Beauty," which contains 500 portraits and moving stories. Her photographs are characterized by vibrant colors and a depth of gaze that creates a direct connection between the subject and the viewer. Legacy Mihaela Noroc has managed to redefine the concept of beauty, transforming it from a physical attribute into a symbol of tolerance and resilience. She remains a central figure in contemporary Romanian visual arts, demonstrating how a project started with a backpack and a camera can change the global perception of femininity.
