About

Diana Vieru is a Moldovan actress who established herself on the Romanian theater scene at a very young age. Born in Strășeni, Republic of Moldova, she chose to continue her theater studies at the "George Enescu" National University of Arts in Iași, where she graduated from the Faculty of Theater under the guidance of Professor Doru Aftanasiu. Her decision to come to Iași proved to be a fitting choice, and the young actress quickly integrated into the Romanian theater environment, finding her place among the stage creators of the new generation of artists. The most significant recognition in her career to date was the UNITER award for best supporting actress, which she received in July 2021 for her portrayal of the character Marusia in the play "Orașul cu fete sărace" (The City of Poor Girls). This production, scripted and directed by Radu Afrim based on Radu Tudoran's novellas, was staged at the "Vasile Alecsandri" National Theater in Iași. The role of Marusia was a significant opportunity for the actress, who brought a special vulnerability to the character, even though it had comedic aspects. The success of this performance was partly due to her musical talent, an ability that impressed the director and led him to cast her in the play. Diana Vieru speaks about acting not just as a profession, but as a path to knowing and understanding life and people. According to her own confessions, the characters she portrays are created by borrowing elements from her own personality, transforming each role into a life lesson. She believes that each character played helps her to evolve and develop as an artist, and the energy she feels in the hall, in those moments of direct contact with the audience, represents an essential part of her passion for theater. Through the dedication and sensitivity with which she approaches each project, she continues to contribute to the future of the theatrical stage in Romania.
