About
Doina Strulea is a young poet and journalist from the Republic of Moldova, born on December 6, 1996, in Chișinău, and residing in Criuleni. Since her adolescence, she has cultivated a deep passion for poetry and music, studying the violin at the art school for seven years. This love for art and words translated into her literary creations, and in 2014, she launched her editorial debut with the poetry collection "The Violin in the Attic," which was appreciated both nationally and internationally. The collection, signifying a spiritual refuge from the attic where her creations were born, received the "Florile dalbe" magazine award for the best book by a student author at the 2015 International Book Fair for Children and Youth. Strulea settled in Italy, where she is pursuing a degree in Journalism at the University of Milan. This move marked an important stage in her creative evolution, influenced by the feeling of longing and distance from her loved ones. She won the "Exploit your talent" scholarship offered by the University of Milan and continues to develop her literary career by collaborating with Italian cultural centers. In December 2018, under the high patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Italy, she launched her second poetry collection titled "69% Longing," an event that took place in the presence of the Consul General of Romania. His international achievements include multiple awards at prestigious competitions: the International Award "Best Young Author" at the "Giovani e Poesia" International Poetry Festival in Triuggio, Italy (2013), as well as awards at literary competitions in Brăila and Orăștie, Romania. His poems, which address themes of mother, family, homeland, longing, and distance, have been featured in publications and anthologies in Italy. Although she lives far from her native country, Strulea remains emotionally connected to Moldova, this being a recurring theme in her verses, reflecting the paradox of writing about longing while being herself distant from loved ones.
