Galina Stetco was born in 1975 in Moldova and demonstrated a passion for art from childhood, beginning to paint at the age of ten. In 2000, she obtained her degree in architecture from the Technical University of Moldova, Chisinau, studies that became a major source of inspiration for her future artistic practices. In 2003, she moved to Canada and settled in the Montreal metropolitan area, where she gradually dedicated herself to visual arts. Since 2011, she has devoted herself exclusively to her career as an artist, and in 2013, she discovered the medium of sculpture, opening a new creative dimension in her artistic practice. Galina Stetco's creations combine figurative and abstract elements, utilizing geometric formations and spatial organizations specific to the architectural field from which she comes. Her themes explore the connection between humans and nature, between the individual and society, and her experience of living under the communist regime and witnessing the fall of the Soviet Union have profoundly influenced her artistic perspective and the content of her work. She practices both sculpture and painting, working with various materials including bronze, stainless steel, and steel, creating pieces characterized by a reconstructive and contemplative approach. Galina Stetco's works are found in public and private collections on several continents, including Canada, the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Moldova, Italy, Switzerland, and Egypt. Her work has been exhibited in various international symposia and galleries. Being a polyglot, speaking English, French, Romanian, and Russian, Galina Stetco has expanded her influence and connects with audiences from different cultures, and her artistic activity continues to be recognized in international contemporary art circles.
