Ecaterina Osmolkina was born on November 8, 1980, in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, and became one of the most acclaimed ballerinas of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. After graduating from the Vaganova Ballet Academy in 1999, under the guidance of Professor Inna Zubkovskaya, she joined the Mariinsky troupe, where she performed for over two decades as a principal dancer. Throughout her remarkable career, Osmolkina has performed all the principal roles in the classical repertoire, including Giselle, Odette-Odile, Princess Aurora, Cinderella, and Juliet, earning international recognition for her extraordinary versatility and artistic depth. Ecaterina Osmolkina's career has been marked by numerous prestigious distinctions and awards, confirming her stature in the ballet world. In 1998, she won the award at the Vaganova-prix International Competition in St. Petersburg, and in 2004, she received the award at the Seoul International Ballet Competition. The pinnacle of official recognition came in 2006 when she was awarded the Golden Sophit, the highest theatrical distinction in St. Petersburg, for her role as Flora in the ballet "The Awakening of Flora." In 2011, she was honored with the title of Honored Artist of Russia. Notably, her mastery lies in her ability to perform both classical and modern roles with equal brilliance, including choreographies by masters such as Balanchine, Forsythe, and Yakobson. Through her constant presence on the Mariinsky stage and her participation in internationally renowned festivals, such as "Stars of the White Nights" in 2008, Osmolkina has represented the excellence of Russian classical dance and collaborated with world-renowned ballet partners like Faruh Ruzimatov and Carlos Acosta. Her family is also connected to the art of ballet, as she is married to Maxim Zyuzin, also a dancer and soloist at the Mariinsky, which highlights the profound dimension of her life dedicated to this noble art.
