Alexandrina Sandu is an exceptional young ballerina from the Republic of Moldova, who started practicing ballet at the age of 4, inspired by cartoons. At just 13-14 years old, she won Second Prize at the prestigious international competition Dance World Cup in Braga, Portugal, in 2023, ranking second in the "Children Solo Ballet Repertoire" category (12-13 years old), with the variation "Raymonda". Out of over 7,500 participants from 50 countries, including the USA, Japan, and China, Alexandrina qualified among the top 10 best dancers in the world, demonstrating remarkable talent and extraordinary determination. She is a student at "Spiru Haret" High School in Chisinau and trains under the guidance of prima ballerina Anastasia Homițcaia from the "Maria Bieșu" National Opera and Ballet Theater. Alexandrina regularly participates in national and international competitions in cities such as Bucharest, Iasi, Bacau, and Braga, winning multiple awards. Even though ballet involves intense daily three-hour training sessions, pain, and absences from school, she catches up on her studies with the support of her teachers, considering dance "life, passion, and the most beautiful art." Unconditionally supported by her family, teachers, and friends, Alexandrina dreams of dancing on the stage of the Paris National Opera, preferring the role of the Black Swan for its challenge. Recently, she had the opportunity for a two-week internship at the "École de danse de l’Opéra national de Paris," an important step in her career. Her determination, hard work on pointe shoes that are "earned, not magical," and the joy of dance define her as a promise of Moldovan ballet.
