Nina Iașcinschi, also known as Nina Grach-Jascinsky, was a sculptor born in Chișinău in 1903/1904, who later settled in Luxembourg, where she worked until the end of her life in 1983/1984. She attended the School of Fine Arts in Chișinău, in Alexandru Plămădeală's studio, and then completed her training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, in the sculpture studio, where she won first prize and was granted the right to work for three years in an Academy studio. In Belgium and Luxembourg, Nina Iașcinschi made a name for herself with sculptures of figurative themes, portraits, and compositions, frequently addressing the female figure in a classicized style. She had a solo exhibition in Brussels in 1938, and later presented works in Luxembourg and other European exhibition spaces; her creations also include bas-reliefs, decorative reliefs, and sculptures made for public buildings or artistic commissions. After settling in Luxembourg, she was appointed sculptor to the Court of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, which consolidated her professional prestige and opened up new artistic collaborations. Her personal life became linked to architect Pierre Grach, whom she married, and this relationship led to her moving to Luxembourg and obtaining Luxembourgish citizenship. Public sources mention that she also worked in collaboration with her husband on some monuments and ornaments for buildings designed by him, and in parallel, she also offered private lessons, having students from the local artistic environment. Through her work, Nina Iașcinschi remained one of the artists originating from the Bessarabian space who contributed to 20th-century Luxembourgish sculpture.
