Larisa Gulenco is a remarkable pianist from the Republic of Moldova, a graduate of the Moldova Academy of Music, the Conservatory of the North in Holland, and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where she obtained her Master of Music degree. Her career includes numerous recitals in Moldova, Russia, Romania, Italy, Holland, Belgium, the United States, and Canada, and she is a laureate of national and international piano and chamber music competitions in Moldova, Romania, and Italy. As an accompanist, she has worked with renowned artists such as sopranos Jacqueline Woodley, Adrienne Pieczonka, Margaret Bardos, and Marion Samuel-Stevens, tenor John Fanning, as well as ensembles like the John Laing Singers, Burlington Welsh Male Choir, Hamilton Children's Choir, and Opera Hamilton. Since arriving in Canada in July 2008, Larisa has settled in the Hamilton, Ontario area, where she teaches piano and maintains an intensive concert schedule, including duo recitals with her husband, pianist Alexei Gulenco, at McMaster University. She collaborates with local choirs and orchestras, such as the McMaster University Choir, Strata Vocal Ensemble, McMaster Chamber Orchestra, and Schulte Strings, contributing to the musical life of Southern Ontario. Her recent appearances include tours in Boston, New York, and Montreal, showcasing her versatility in classical and chamber repertoire. Larisa Gulenco lives in Hamilton with her husband, Alexei Gulenco, a renowned concert pianist, professor at McMaster University and Mohawk College. The couple forms an active artistic duo, presenting piano duo recitals that enrich the Canadian music scene. Dedicated to music education, Larisa teaches at the Royal Conservatory of Music and offers professional accompaniment services for instrumentalists and voices, inspiring new generations through her passion for classical music.
