About

Valentina Geamănă is a remarkable social activist from the Republic of Moldova, recognized for her projects dedicated to supporting vulnerable categories, such as the elderly, victims of domestic violence, mothers, and children. For over a decade, she has held the position of vice-president of the organization "Aktiv Hilfe fur Kinder" in Italy, where she has raised over 2 million euros in funds for social initiatives in her home country, including the production of two documentary films with RAI Sender Bozen, which financed four other projects. Among her notable achievements are the "Adopt a Senior" initiative, the "DESTINE" Women's Calendar supported by the diaspora, and the establishment of the "HELMUT-WOLF" multifunctional center in Ciuciuleni, Hâncești district, a space transformed from a former kindergarten for the protection of mothers and children and the resilience of the elderly. As president of the Public Association "Divine Prediction," she promotes self-management and self-financing of social projects, social entrepreneurship, and collaborations with institutions such as the Diocese of Nisporeni and Ungheni, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Government of the Republic of Moldova, UN Women, and the Moldovan-Italian Chamber of Commerce. She was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky, 2nd Class, Medals for Cooperation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, diplomas from the Government and UN Women, Premio Italia, and was included in the book "Civic Strength of Women" from Romania. After spending 21 years in Italy, where she faced challenges common to the Moldovan diaspora, Valentina Geamănă chose to return to bring change to Moldova, inspired by volunteering and the need for social security. A former teacher, who initially started with local volunteering, she emphasizes the creation of structures such as a Department for Diaspora Relations and an alternative White Cross for Moldovans abroad, facing problems exacerbated by the pandemic. Her personal life reflects her dedication to the community, building bridges between the diaspora and the country through projects that offer confidence and concrete support to those remaining at home.
