About

Elas Daria is a Moldovan visual artist active in Canada, known for her multidisciplinary practice that brings together ceramics, textiles, video, and 3D animation. Her works take shape in sensitive and colorful scenes, where materials, colors, and textures create immersive and playful scenographic spaces, anchored in reflections on identity, the role of women, and tradition. Daria constantly explores the relationship between craft, design, and contemporary art, using this plurality to highlight and denounce patriarchal aspects of contemporary society. A graduate of the University of Quebec at Montreal, Elas Daria was a recipient of scholarships from the Faculty of Arts and financial support from the Canada Council for the Arts, which allowed her to develop artistic projects and participate in numerous group exhibitions. Her works have been presented in important cultural spaces, including Place des Arts, UQAM Gallery, and Centre Clark, establishing her as a visible figure in the contemporary Montreal scene. Her activity extends beyond exhibitions, connecting her with institutions and projects that value current art as a way of investigating social issues and meaning. In addition to her artistic work, Elas Daria also explores the entrepreneurial realm, being the founder and coordinator of projects involving design and luminous objects made of translucent porcelain that encourage conscious breathing and self-reflection. Through projects like Sveta, she unites aesthetics, functionality, and attention to emotional well-being, while also reflecting the personality of a first-generation immigrant woman, always seeking balance between her Moldovan roots and contemporary Canadian cultural life.
