About

Elena Secas, originally from the Republic of Moldova, settled in Ireland in 2001, in the city of Limerick, where she began a remarkable career in local administration. She first ran in the 2009 local elections in the Castleconnell area, achieving a promising result, but without being elected. Success came in 2014, when she was elected as a councillor on Limerick City and County Council, representing the Limerick City East electoral area, and was re-elected in 2019 with an impressive number of votes, demonstrating her commitment to improving the quality of life in the community. As a member of the Labour Party, Elena Secas has collaborated with key institutions such as the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (since 2014), the Governing Body of Limerick Institute of Technology (2016-2021), and the CORU Occupational Therapists Registration Board (2013-2016). Her priorities include promoting female perspectives in politics, given that women represent over 50% of the population, and facilitating direct dialogue between communities and local authorities. She also works as a Senior Customer Service Representative, combining administrative expertise with an open approach, based on listening to citizens' needs for a safer and more prosperous environment. In addition to her political achievements, Elena Secas holds a Master's degree in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies with distinction from the University of Limerick and a Bachelor's degree in Romanian and English Philology from "Ștefan cel Mare" University of Suceava, Romania. Her personal life is anchored in her family, with whom she has lived in Limerick since 2001, contributing to the integration and promotion of Moldovan values in the Irish context. She represents a success story for women in the Moldovan diaspora, advocating for a more equitable society through active involvement in administration.
