Veronica Dragalin is a remarkable lawyer and prosecutor, with an impressive career in the justice system, focused in the United States of America. A graduate of Duke University with degrees in biology, chemistry, and biochemistry (2008) and the University of Virginia School of Law (2011), she began her professional journey at the international law firm Jones Day between 2011 and 2016, where she specialized in class action litigation, false accusations, and internal investigations concerning corruption and unfair business practices. Between 2016 and 2022, she served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Central District of California, prosecuting over 300 major criminal cases, including public corruption, bribery, bank fraud, money laundering, and civil rights abuses, earning distinctions such as the FBI Director's Award (2020) and the ATF's "Case of the Year" Award (2019). After a temporary return to the Republic of Moldova, where she led the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office from August 2022 to February 2025, Veronica Dragalin coordinated international investigations with Interpol and introduced plea agreements into the Moldovan judicial system, contributing to the country's improved score in Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index. Her collaborations included American, European, and Asian authorities, as well as international financial organizations for assessing anti-corruption standards. She participated in global conferences, such as those of the OECD, UN, and World Bank, speaking about combating high-level corruption and supporting women in governance. Returning to Jones Day in 2025 as a Partner in the Washington office, she now manages cross-border economic crime investigations. Born in the Republic of Moldova, Veronica Dragalin emigrated with her family to the USA at the age of 11, after a period of schooling in Italy and Germany. The daughter of Elena Dragalin, founder of the Moldova AID organization and the Moldovan-American Convention, and Vlad Dragalin, Vice President at Janssen (Johnson & Johnson), she speaks six languages and maintains active pro bono involvement, serving on the board of the Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs.
