About
Louchia Ciuhrii is a renowned international dancer, choreographer, and artist, born and raised in the Republic of Moldova, west of the Black Sea, between Romania and Ukraine. Coming from a family of famous musicians – her father, Serghei Ciuhrii, is a renowned composer and People's Artist of Moldova, and her mother, Olga Ciuhrii, was a nationally recognized singer – Louchia began studying ballet and gymnastics at the age of 6. She danced for 8 years in the children's dance ensemble "Speranța" in Moldova, and at 16, she entered the professional dance college of the National Folk Ballet "Joc," where she completed three years of training in classical ballet, folk, and character dance, mastering styles such as Moldovan, Russian, Gypsy, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, and Romanian. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Dance and Performing Arts, with a specialization in dance choreography, as well as diplomas in fashion design from LATTC and interactive media from the Academy of Entertainment in Los Angeles. After moving to the United States, Louchia built an impressive career in international dance, based in Houston, Texas, where she leads the Almas Dancers company, specializing in wedding and cultural events. She worked as a dancer in international shows at Arbat Golden Palace, was a principal dancer for Alex Kalinin Dance Theatre and the "Aman" folklore company, and for 9 years was a soloist in Pars National Ballet under Iranian choreographer Abdullah Nazemi. She spent 16 years with Jillina’s Sahlala Dancers, 9 of which as a principal dancer in the renowned Bellydance Evolution (BDE), performing iconic roles such as "Aphrodite" in "Immortal Desires," "Princess Sharnaz" in "Dark Side of the Crown," and "Duchess" in "Alice in Wonderland." Her choreographies and dances were featured in the award-winning film "Virginity" (2014), and she performed at birthday parties for celebrities such as Bill Gates, Nancy Reagan, Usher, and Steven Seagal, also appearing on TV shows like "Dancing with the Stars" and "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." Louchia mastered a vast repertoire of dance styles from the Middle East, Central Asia, the Balkans, and Europe, including Egyptian, Persian, Azerbaijani, Armenian, Uzbek, Tajik, Afghan, Russian, Moldovan, Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian, Romani, and Bollywood. She performed and choreographed in over 20 countries, from the USA, Japan, and Brazil to the Czech Republic, Germany, France, Morocco, and China, participating in festivals such as the Gypsy Festival "Khamoro" in the Czech Republic and Poland, or the Nowrooz Festival in Houston. Deeply involved in the Persian community in Los Angeles, she appeared in Persian music videos, Nowruz and Mehrigan festivals, as well as on Tasvir IRAN TV. Her dance classes are highly sought after by aspiring artists worldwide, solidifying her status as one of the most skilled and influential figures in contemporary and folk dance.
