Silvia Busuioc, born on September 7, 1989, in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, is an internationally recognized film actress with a rising career in the United States, Italy, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. She debuted as a dancer and TV presenter in Moldova, then moved to Italy, where she graduated from the State University of Milan and began acting in short films, theater, and TV productions such as the RAI series "Fuoriclasse", where she played the role of Galina, a character who spoke four languages. Her major achievements include roles in films such as "The Snowman" (starring Michael Fassbender and J.K. Simmons), "Lethal Weapon" (FOX), "Veep" (HBO), "Bella Germania" (Bavaria Films), "Gotthard" (a Swiss-German production), and the Romanian comedy "Selfie 69", which was a massive box-office success. Her career expanded spectacularly in Hollywood after she was invited in 2012 by Oscar winner Martin Landau to the Actors Studio, where she underwent advanced training with coaches from Los Angeles, London, and Italy. She has collaborated with renowned directors such as Tomas Alfredson, Gabriele Salvatores, Urs Egger, and Cristina Iacob, playing lead or supporting roles in high-budget productions, including the historical mini-series "Bella Germania" and "American Horror Story". She speaks five languages fluently (Romanian, Russian, Italian, German, English), which has allowed her to play complex characters, such as Leo in "Gotthard", a girl disguised as a boy at the Gotthard tunnel construction site. Although she splits her time between London, Los Angeles, and Italy, Silvia grew up in Chișinău, where she spent half of her life before emigrating, facing challenges such as adapting to a small Italian town and taking her baccalaureate exams without knowing the language. She currently resides in the United Kingdom but considers the US her main place of work, where she has built a solid reputation. The actress supports the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European Union to reduce bureaucratic barriers and encourage young people to stay in the country, having dreamed since childhood of studying in Europe, though she initially ended up in Italy by a twist of fate.
