About

Elena Bria, born on July 4, 1992, in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, into a family of biathletes, dedicated herself to fine arts from an early age. At the age of 11, she began her studies at the School of Fine Arts in Chișinău under the guidance of master Stanislav Babiuc, who passed on to her the principles of realism in the tradition of the old Russian school. She later graduated with a scholarship from the prestigious Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, where she studied for seven years, distinguishing herself with her graduation thesis: an impressive 3x4 meter painting depicting the 'Coronation of King Ferdinand I and Queen Marie in Alba Julia in 1922', created exclusively from life using hundreds of sketches and live models. As a figurative artist, Elena Bria paints exclusively from life, inspired by masters such as Ilya Repin, Valentin Serov, Nikolai Fechin, John Singer Sargent, Anders Zorn, and Joaquín Sorolla. Her works, especially portraits and still lifes with photographic realism and emotional depth, have been exhibited in Bucharest galleries, such as Arbor Gallery and Kulterra Gallery, as well as at the National Museum of History of Moldova, the Union Museum in Alba Iulia, and the National Museum of History of Romania. She participates in international salons, such as the ARC Salon in the USA, and her paintings are held in American private collections, earning her recognition as a revelation of Bessarabian art. Elena Bria believes that a true artist is cosmopolitan, with roots in Romanian, French, and Tatar blood. Her vision of creation emphasizes honesty and discipline, refusing commissions and fleeting trends in favor of pure passion. She dreams of a spacious studio in southern Europe, in Italy or Spain, while continuing to explore monumental compositions that celebrate Moldovan and Romanian cultural heritage.
