About
Georgeta Varvarici, a ballet dancer of Moldovan origin born in Chișinău, discovered her passion for ballet at the age of nine, encouraged by her parents, especially her father, who knew the director of the National Choreography College in Chișinău. She first took the stage at just ten years old, performing a difficult classical dance, and her professional training continued at the prestigious Academy of Performing Arts in Munich, which she graduated from in 2010. Gifted with exceptional physical qualities, such as perfect body lines, arched feet, and hyperlordotic extension, Georgeta emphasizes that ballet means not only grace and talent, but sustained effort, willpower, and discipline, involving daily training of six to eight hours to maintain an ideal physical condition. Her international career began in Germany, where she received a scholarship from the Heinz-Bosl Foundation and danced with the Bavarian State Ballet and Bavarian State Ballet II starting from the 2010/2011 season. She subsequently collaborated with renowned theaters such as the Munich Theater, Magdeburg Theater, and for eight years, with Staatsballett Berlin, one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world, where she worked with elite choreographers and performed on major stages. Although she left Staatsballett Berlin for personal reasons, taking a year-long break to re-evaluate her passion, Georgeta debuted in roles such as *Come Neve al Sole* and continues to impress with her impeccable technique in classical, neoclassical, and contemporary ballet. Despite the inherent traumas of the profession – tendon injuries, fractures – which she overcame with resilience, Georgeta remains tied to her Moldovan roots, criticizing the lack of adequate leadership and fair remuneration in the ballet of the Republic of Moldova, which loses talent to foreign countries. Passionate about fashion and urban life in Berlin, where she prefers neighborhoods like Mitte, she sees dance as a theatrical art that conveys emotion to the audience, dreaming of dancing for as long as possible, even after 40, or becoming a repetiteur. Today, associated with Bucharest City Ballet, Georgeta Varvarici represents an example of Moldovan female excellence on world stages.
