About
Ana-Maria Ursu is a Moldovan entrepreneur who has built a remarkable career in the wine sector, successfully promoting Moldovan wines in the Canadian and American markets. In Canada, where she has lived since 2014, she and her husband, Anatol, are co-founders of the company Vinohora, the first company in Canada to encompass the three main alcohol distribution branches under the SAQ umbrella: retail distribution (SAQ retail), distribution in grocery store chains, and private import of Moldovan products. Through dedicated work and innovative marketing strategy, Ana-Maria has turned her passion for wine into a thriving business, expanding operations into five American states and transforming Vinohora into a significant presence in one of the world's most demanding alcohol markets. Ana-Maria's professional training and international experience were decisive factors in her success as an entrepreneur. Before settling in Canada, she studied at the Faculty of International Relations, Political and Administrative Sciences and completed a master's degree in Business and Administration. She developed her skills through multiple international exchange programs in Romania, Sweden, Ukraine, Lithuania, Germany, Hungary, Poland, and France. A particularly valuable experience was her four-month internship at the Robert Schuman Institute in Budapest, where she participated in study and exchange programs in fields such as communication, politics, and conflict analysis. She also worked within the European Business Association Moldova and held responsibilities in areas such as politics, communication, and marketing, accumulating the necessary expertise to successfully tackle the challenges of a competitive international market. Ana-Maria Ursu is also known for her commitment to promoting Moldova's cultural and economic identity on the international stage. In 2023, she returned to the Republic of Moldova and accepted the position of project coordinator for "Diaspora Invest" within the Investment Agency, thus setting an example of a successful Moldovan who wishes to inspire other fellow citizens from the diaspora to return and contribute to the country's development. She created the group "Moldova – Generation of Winemakers Land" with the aim of promoting the Republic of Moldova as a wine-producing country among Canadians, and under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Canada, she organized the first Moldovan wine festival in the province of Quebec, thereby strengthening cultural and commercial ties between Moldova and Canada.
