About
Irina Shvedova-Demarina, born on April 28, 1959, in Chisinau, Moldova, is a renowned Russian singer and actress, particularly known for her memorable performances of the songs "White Waltz" and "America-razluchnitsa." Irina's artistic career was marked by rigorous training from childhood, when she studied music, English, and classical dance. After three years spent in Moldova, her family moved to Kyiv, where Irina continued to develop artistically, graduating from the State Institute of Theatrical Arts in 1983. Her time in Kyiv was creatively fertile, as she worked in various youth theaters and participated in performances such as "Serenade from the Sun Valley" and "Leopold the Cat's Birthday." Her career in the Russian Federation truly took off in 1990 when she moved to Moscow and participated in the "Song of the Year" festival. The songs "White Waltz" (also known as "Afghan Waltz") and "America-razluchnica," composed by Igor Demarin and poet Yuri Rogoza, were victorious in consecutive music competitions, and from 1992, "America-razluchnica" won the Grand Prix at the "Schlager Year" competition in St. Petersburg. Since then, Irina has solidified her presence on the Russian artistic scene through regular tours, collaborations with prestigious orchestras, and participation in national and international film festivals. Throughout the 2000s, Irina Shvedova significantly diversified her activities, engaging in theater directing, producing musical shows for children at the Podolsk Theater Art Center, and appearing in films and television series. Since 2015, she has been collaborating with the Moscow Drama Theater under the direction of Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, where she works as both an actress and a music coordinator. She has recorded several solo albums and received numerous awards, including the Order of the President of the Russian Federation and the Diploma of Honored Artist. Her philanthropic-patriotic activities, including concerts for military personnel and veterans, have been officially recognized by the Russian authorities.
