About
After graduating from high school, Livia Vasilievna enrolled at the Saratov Pedagogical Institute, specializing in foreign languages and the English department. It was a difficult time, the war was ongoing, and it was necessary to find a job to receive ration cards. Livia Vasilievna found work at the Book House as a saleswoman in the art department. She found herself immersed in the world of Russian and foreign literature. She greatly enjoyed her work, but the dream of the theater never left her since she fell in love with the K. Marx Drama Theater in Saratov. She became acquainted with its performances and actors from school. High school students were frequent spectators of its productions. The work of renowned actors such as I. A. Slonov, S. M. Muratov, P. A. Karganov, V. K. Soboleva, and others helped her imagine a future on stage. In 1944, Livia Vasilievna accidentally learned that a theater studio had opened at the theater and decided to try her luck. After passing the exams with flying colors, she transferred to the studio to study under the guidance of P.A. Karganov, People's Artist of the RSFSR. The years spent at the studio were successful and fruitful. In 1947, she graduated from the theater studio of the K.M. Marx Saratov Drama Academy and became a leading actress there. The actress's generous stage presence, beauty, gentleness, grace, and uniqueness were evident in both major and minor roles, throughout her vast future repertoire. Her first major stage success came with the role of Mashenka in A. N. Afinogenov's play of the same name. Mashenka, portrayed with immense love and naive simplicity, brought her her first real success. A new, unique actress was revealed to the Saratov public. And a true path to great art awaited her. During her time at the Saratov Theater, Livia Shutova played over 60 roles. In 1967, accepting an invitation from S. Petrovsky, the chief director of the A.P. Chekhov Russian Drama Theater in Chisinau, Livia Shutova transferred there. The Moldovan audience first encountered her in the same year, playing the role of Helena in L.G. Zorin's play "The Melody of Warsaw." This performance became a true event in Moldovan theatrical life. After "The Melody of Warsaw," Livia Shutova created a series of remarkable stage roles on the stage of this theater. From 1975 to 1989, Livia Shutova performed at the Moscow Theater on Malaya Bronnaya. Her first successful work at this theater was the role of Nora in O'Neill's play "The Soul of a Poet," directed by People's Artist of the RSFSR, Mikhail Kozakov.
