About

Litta was born in Chisinau, but don't think she knows the language from there. She comes from a Russian family that moved to Moldova during World War II. "My great-grandfather was a soldier. He lived very close to the Kremlin. When the situation became unstable, he left with his wife and four daughters for Chisinau to keep the family safe," the woman recounts. They chose Moldova because it was a bilingual country. Litta never felt the need to truly learn Romanian. She spent her entire childhood between Chisinau and Leningrad (the Soviet name for the city of Saint Petersburg). When she left Moldova for good at the age of 15, she only knew one poem by Eminescu, learned by heart at school.
