About
Olga Semionova, a remarkable violinist from the Republic of Moldova, began her musical journey at the age of six at the "Sergei Rachmaninoff" High School in Chisinau, initially debuting with the piano before dedicating a lasting passion to the violin. She graduated from the Chisinau Academy of Music between 2001 and 2006, under the guidance of Professor Boris Dubossarsky, the founder of the ensemble "Moldovan Violinists," with whom she toured Europe, including Spain, France, Italy, and Denmark. She won important awards, such as first place at the George Enescu International Competition in Chisinau (2006) and second place at the George Georgescu Competition in Tulcea (1998), receiving a presidential scholarship for young artists in 1998, and performed as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova. After emigrating to Canada in 2016, Olga pursued a master's degree in musical performance at Université de Montréal (2016-2018), which she graduated from with honors, subsequently obtaining permanent residency in 2021. She has collaborated with renowned Quebec orchestras, such as the Nouvelle Génération Chamber Orchestra (where she is part of the string quartet), the Sherbrooke Symphony Orchestra, the Longueuil Symphony Orchestra, the Trois-Rivières Symphony Orchestra, the Agora Orchestra, and the Montérégie Symphony Orchestra, participating in the Classica Festival and accompanying artists like soprano Nathalie Choquette. Recently, she performed in concerts such as "Printemps baroque" with the association La Muse Héritage musical, interpreting works by Vivaldi, Bach, and others, alongside the Municipal Chamber Orchestra and the Chisinau National Chamber Orchestra. In addition to her solo and orchestral career, Olga Semionova teaches violin at the Centre d’Art De Préville in Saint-Lambert and group classes at the F.A.C.E. school in Plateau Mont-Royal, Montreal, focusing on developing young people's musical universe, organization, and passion. Initially emigrating alone, motivated by a relationship with a Quebecer, she transformed the challenges of adaptation into full integration into the Canadian music scene, continuing collaborations with musicians such as Ioana German and Olga Murysina. Her future projects include concerts with the Orchestra Nouvelle Génération and the Classica Festival, demonstrating a constant dedication to chamber music, inherited from her childhood in Chisinau.
