About
Olga Rykova, born in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, is a contemporary artist renowned for her unique "Vibrant Realism" style, which blends modern expressionism with traditional elements. A distinguished graduate of the Repin University of Fine Arts in Chisinau, where she studied rigorous anatomy and classical techniques inspired by masters such as Sandro Botticelli, Mikhail Vrubel, or the French Impressionists, she has developed an innovative approach based on pigment-rich acrylics, mixed media, and the application of 24k gold and silver leaf. Her works, often large-scale portraits of strong and enigmatic women, capture the kinetic energy of the human spirit through controlled chaos – fluid paint drips contrasting with the shimmer of precious metals – and are exhibited in prestigious galleries such as Eclectic Gallery in London, Seattle Art Fair, or Art Market San Francisco. After immigrating to Canada in 1990, Olga initially settled in Ottawa, where she earned a diploma in graphic design from La Cité Collégiale, and later moved to Montreal, where her studio is now located. Her diverse career includes periods of freelance fashion design for brands such as Lee Jeans, Buffalo, and Elpro, creating bags, clothing, and accessories, as well as watercolor illustrations for children's books. Returning to painting, she explored abstraction before focusing on expressive portraits, with iconic series such as "Blooming Souls," "Golden Aura," or "Inner Vision," which have attracted private collectors from Canada, the USA, Europe, and Russia. Her participation in international exhibitions, including the New York Art Expo and galleries in Montreal, has solidified her global reputation. Deeply influenced by her creative family environment – her mother a Russian ballet dancer and her father a publicist with a background in visual arts – Olga discovered her passion for art at the young age of 10, devouring the history of Renaissance and Baroque art, as well as Russian and French literature. Although detailed information about her personal life remains private, her journey reflects remarkable tenacity, from surviving through occasional jobs to establishing herself as an independent artist through the platform finemodernart.com. Today, from Montreal, she continues to inspire through vibrant, intuitive works that transform faces into emotional landscapes, celebrating strong femininity and inner metamorphosis.
