About
Ecaterina Meaun, also known as Kate Meaun, is a remarkable public procurement specialist with a 19-year career, marked by major transformations in this field, from the Republic of Moldova to Ireland. As Procurement and Contracts Manager at EduCampus Services, an Irish state institution in higher education, she manages centralized IT solutions procurement for technical universities, promoting ethical and sustainable practices. Her innovative research, including the white paper "Empowering Human Rights Through Public Procurement," integrates human rights into procurement processes, positioning her as a thought leader, affiliated with the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) and pursuing an MSc in Procurement and Supply Chain Management. Her collaborations include partnerships with the United Nations Development Programme and previous experience at institutions such as The Rotunda Hospital in Dublin, where she restructured the procurement department. Active in the Moldova4EU diaspora network, she founded the Romanian Speakers Community in Munster and serves as Vice President Public Relations at Bandon Toastmasters, promoting cultural exchange and leadership. Her contributions extend her impact in Irish higher education, where ICT procurement supports sustainable academic development. At 45 years old, Ecaterina emigrated from the Republic of Moldova to Ireland in 2019, along with her minor daughter, leaving behind a stable life to develop her European career and academic English. She went through major challenges, including the pandemic and cultural adaptation, supported by the Irish state with generous social programs. She has a son studying in the Netherlands, plans a PhD in public procurement with a focus on human rights, and intends to teach in academia, considering Ireland "home" where she feels integrated and safe.
